I'm Wondering What It Is I Hear

'I am wondering what it is I hear,

What on earth is out back there...'

I listen out the back cabin window...

I Am Wondering What It Is I Hear I am wondering what it is I hear, What on earth is out back there? The bushes are rustling and I hear some sounds, What is out there hanging around? I intently hold my ear in that direction, So I can hear to my satisfaction, I need to know what is hiding there, Is it a cougar, a deer, or a bear? I am in the forest after all, In a place where animals wander and crawl, I should be alert but not afraid, There’s really no reason to be dismayed. Animals just want to go about their way, They are just out there living their day, They are most likely more afraid of me, And so don’t want to interact, you see. They are just out there foraging to eat, It is just their meals and food they seek, It is not me they want to find, I am the last thing on their mind. In my forest home where I go, I live amongst the wilds and so, I can expect to hear rustling from out back, And when I do, I wonder again, what is that? By Lady of the Lake BC
