Kerplink-Kerplunk, See How They Jump

'Kerplink-Kerplunk,

See how they jump...'

A fish looking for a meal just went back under the water and left a ring pattern and bubbles on the lake.

Kerplink-Kerplunk, See How They Jump Kerplink-Kerplunk, See how they jump, It’s fish-feeding time, After the sun has sunk. The fish are in the mood, To have some food, They prey on unsuspecting bugs, That fly by without a clue. They leap up and snap, As quickly as that, To eat low-flying bugs, Like flies and gnats. It’s the time of day, After dusk is underway, After the light is dimming, That the fish catch their prey. I hear tiny splashes, And see silver-scale flashes, As they pop out of the water, To consume their flying catches.  Tiny rings in the lake, Are left from their wake, After they’ve gone back down under, To take a momentary break. This goes on for a while, And I watch with a smile, The fish leaping and feeding, A buffet in free-style. Kerplink-Kerplunk, See how they jump, It’s fish-feeding time, After the sun has sunk.
