When I Insert the Key
I can tell you I get butterflies, When I insert the key, My belly does this flip-flop, Because I’m about to be set free. When sit and I take my seat, Behind the wheel in my boat, When I turn over the engine, I’m not planning for a leisurely float. When the engine is at proper idle, And the ropes are all untied, I can’t wait to get out full speed, And take my ski boat for a ride. I do have to slow throttle out, And gently leave my bay, Clear the breakwater and the docks, Before I fly away. But once I’m clear of the land, And head out on the lake, I can push that throttle way up, Set my plane and produce that wake. I love to fly across the waters, The wind in my hair and face, I love the feel of the power of the engine, As I speed off like in a race. I often have no destination, I just want to get out and go, I don’t really need to end up anywhere, Just feel life’s freedom and flow. Getting behind the wheel of my boat, Brings a thrill and personal satisfaction, I do it by myself whenever I can, But sometimes I’ve passengers who share my reaction. To fly across the water on a hot, sunny day, To feel the power of my engine as I glide, Is truly exciting when I’m out on the water, Enjoying lake life and a fabulous boat ride. By Lady of the Lake BC
